Nearfield Studio Monitor

NF-1

Combining innovative speaker technologies that fundamentally redefine the conventional near-field concept. A new definition of professional near-field monitors.

Features

Realization of "Visible Original Sound Reproduction

“Many compact monitors claim to be near-field. But are musicians and engineers really satisfied with this sound?” This simple question was the catalyst for the birth of the NF-1.

We then used our vast accumulated know-how in speaker technology to reexamine the performance that a near-field monitor must encompass. To exceed all of these performance requirements, we succeeded in completely infusing the NF-1 with the latest technologies, including the ultimate diaphragm, the “HP diaphragm.

The NF-1 has achieved a “visible reproduction of the original sound,” which is something that cannot be achieved with conventional near-field monitors.

Newly developed HP diaphragm for unparalleled high-precision sound reproduction

The HP diaphragm is the greatest feature of the NF-1. The cubic curved surface structure consisting of hyperbolic and parabolic surfaces eliminates the inherent resonance that cannot be avoided with conventional diaphragms, and the high structural strength enables the diaphragm to follow the original sound at high speed.

The HP diaphragm enables wide-range reproduction that transcends the common wisdom of 16cm woofers, with the ability to cover the main components of the original sound with a single woofer, reproducing accurate sound contours with ultra-low distortion based on powerful and tight low frequencies.

Newly developed diaphragm material and UDR tangential edge

For the diaphragm, we introduced materials such as ultra-high modulus carbon fiber and super fiber PBO. By further sublimating the excellent characteristics of wood pulp to its most extreme dimension, we have achieved a fusion of a propagation speed approaching that of titanium and an internal loss comparable to that of PP material.

In addition, the push-pull double damper ensures excellent linearity, and the UDR tangential edge eliminates the reverse resonance that conventionally occurs at the edges, enabling muddy reproduction.

Wide-range tweeter with UFLC diaphragm

The UFLC diaphragm must have a wide range for the next generation, yet be flat with no peaks or dips, and have no peculiar characteristics or changes in sound quality caused by fluctuations in signal level. The development of the UFLC diaphragm has realized an ideal soft dome tweeter that satisfies these requirements.

The tweeter frame is also made of a highly rigid aluminum die-cast frame based on the concept of eliminating unwanted resonance.

Enclosure designed for time alignment

The enclosure, which pursues time alignment at the listening point for console-top use, not only achieves ideal phase characteristics by setting the woofer and tweeter at optimal front/rear positions, but also concentrates the sound source in order to accurately reproduce localization.

In addition, 21mm MDF material is used to thoroughly eliminate sound muddiness caused by unnecessary enclosure resonance. In addition, the woofer section has a 33mm thick front baffle to support its powerful power.

Built-in HP sound reflector

Ideal standing wave control is difficult to achieve with ordinary sound absorbing materials such as glass wool. The HP Sound Reflector makes this possible. By attenuating standing waves uniformly across all frequencies, the HP Sound Reflector realizes dynamic bass sound reproduction that could not be achieved with conventional materials.

Excellent directivity

During monitoring work, the user wants to minimize changes in timbre and sound field as the listening point is moved. This is an essential requirement in terms of work efficiency.

The NF-1 achieves unprecedentedly excellent directivity characteristics in the 30o response from the high-level matching of the HP diaphragm and UFLC soft dome.

The NF-1 is equipped with four terminals for bi-wiring to allow the speaker to be driven in any studio environment. The UFLC is designed to be magnetically shielded so that it can be freely installed in close proximity to various types of video monitors.
