NF-1A
Powered Nearfield Studio MonitorFeatures
A departure from mere powered systems,
Total Monitoring Concept" of innovation
It is not simply powered by the trends of the times, nor from the easy all-in-one orientation that abounds in the marketplace.
The NF-1A is based on the firm design concept of a complete monitoring system, including the amplifier, while remaining faithful to the “near-field concept” of the NF-1, which has achieved overwhelming reference performance on ・・・・・. The NF-1A powered monitor was born based on this firm design concept.
The NF-1A is equipped with an ideal speaker drive circuit of Bi-AMP configuration tuned exclusively for the NF-1, and is free from artificial low-frequency exaggeration and high-frequency manipulation that are common in conventional powered monitors. The NF-1’s quality has been consistently maintained, with ultra-fast response and high-precision reproduction from the low end to the high end of the original sound.
The NF-1A is a “total NF-1 monitor system” that can be instantly set up in a private studio, in the control room of an outside studio, or even in the mastering room for final processing, The NF-1A supports musicians and engineers.
Reproduction of true Super LOW with visible contours "without delay
Like the NF-1, the NF-1 is equipped with a 16cm woofer employing an advanced “HP diaphragm”. The 16cm woofer reproduces low frequencies with a sense of weight and tightness at high speed, which is distinctly different from the conventional straight cone type 16cm woofer.
The woofer’s magnetic circuit also retains the NF-1 quality. The woofer’s magnetic circuitry is also of NF-1 quality, and reproduces the super-low frequencies of a hammering kick or synth bass realistically and without any “mojo”. The super-low frequencies of a hammering kick or synth bass can be reproduced realistically and without any “fizziness”.
Edge-specific ringing tends to occur especially at high volumes. The UDR Tangential Edge is an improvement that addresses this blind spot in speaker units, which degrades the reproducibility of the original sound. The UDR Tangential Edge suppresses the additional generation of distortion and overtone components that are not included in the original sound, and provides a clear sound. The synergistic effect with the push-pull double damper realizes “visible” reproduction of the original sound from the smallest signal to the highest output.
The UFLC diaphragm soft dome tweeter is the same as the NF-1, with a wide range up to 40kHz and flat characteristics without peaks and dips, providing ideal high-frequency reproduction for next-generation recording formats such as 24bit/96kHz.
Low noise power amplifier with high quality Bi-AMP configuration
The power amplifier, which thoroughly pursues low distortion and low noise through a simple circuit configuration, employs the Bi-AMP method. Optimum independent drive for each unit eliminates sound muddiness caused by electrical interference between units (LF: 60W, HF: 60W).
When determining the tone of a sound source, even near-field sound reproduction as loud as large is sometimes required, and the NF-1A has thoroughly pursued the performance of its power supply unit to ensure that it does not buckle or distort even during such high-output reproduction. The large R-core transformer keeps the power amplifier circuit in optimum operating condition even under continuous load, enabling torquey drive that maximizes speaker performance even when used at high volume levels.
In addition to the vibration-damping treatment applied between the amplifier section and the rear of the enclosure, which is prone to excess resonance, the power transformer is also mounted with a vibration-damping mount. This ensures clear reproduction of the original sound without unwanted squeaks even at high sound pressure.
HP Sound Reflector for amazing speed
A unique HP sound reflector is built in to realize low-frequency reproduction at an overwhelmingly high speed. It enables efficient sound radiation from the bass-reflex port, which cannot be achieved with glass wool or other sound-absorbing materials, and achieves low-frequency characteristics with an amazing sense of speed and weight.
The enclosure is designed for time alignment, with the woofer, tweeter, and bass reflex port concentrated in a centralized layout. The ideal phase characteristics and accurate localization reproduction capability ensure excellent directivity characteristics that minimize tonal and acoustic field changes even when the listening point is moved to the left or right during monitoring.
21mm MDF material is used to thoroughly eliminate enclosure resonance. In addition, the woofer section uses a 33mm-thick front baffle to support its powerful power.
Correction functions for any studio environment
Powered monitors can be placed in a variety of locations, such as on console tops, speaker stands, or tables, and in a wide range of studio environments, including high reverberation and wall absorption/reflectance characteristics. The NF-1A is equipped with a multi-function filter that compensates for changes in characteristics according to various acoustic conditions. The NF-1A is equipped with a multifunctional filter that compensates for changes in characteristics according to various acoustic conditions, thus maintaining faithful reproduction of the original sound.
In order to ensure more efficient correction, the crossover frequency is set at 5 kHz, and three correction parameters are selected: LO FREQ (+3/0/-3dB at 60 Hz), HI-MID ATT (0/-3dB at 3 kHz), and HIFREQ (+3/0/-3dB at 10 kHz). 3 points are selected. In addition, a tweeter level adjustment with a variable range of ±3dB is provided, allowing it to function as a check machine in any studio environment.
XLR-type (+4dBu balanced) and phone (-10dBV unbalanced) inputs are provided for use with any console monitor output.
It is designed to be magnetically shielded so that it can be freely installed in close proximity to various types of video monitors.
