PD606
location recorderLocation recorder for movies, dramas, documentaries, commercials, broadcasts...and many other scenes.
Features
80GB HDD & 12cm DVD
The recording media includes a vibration- and shock-resistant 1.8-inch 80GB HDD and a versatile 12cm DVD multi drive. Direct recording/playback is possible. The internal HDD is 4.7 GB, the same size as a DVD, and has 16 partitions, enabling simultaneous recording (mirroring, auto-copy) with DVD.
It also has a “background mode” that automatically copies files from the HDD to the DVD when it is in standby or on standby. Of course, manual disc and file copying after recording is also possible.
The DVD drive is slot-loading and can record directly to DVD-RAM. DVD-R/RW and CD-R/RW can also be used for copying and backing up data recorded on the internal HDD.
The internal HDD unit is user-replaceable. A replacement HDD option “EX-HD1” is also available. The HDD unit can also be used for continuous long-time recording across partitions automatically when recording to the HDD.
Simultaneous recording to HDD and DVD is subject to limitations depending on the Fs and number of tracks recorded.
When using DVD, place the PD606 on a flat surface such as a table or cart in a horizontal position (inclination with the stand is acceptable) and use it in a stable and vibration-free condition. It cannot be used in a vertical or shoulder-mounted position (built-in HDD can be used).
Digital Mixing & 8Track Recording
6-channel analog input/output (XLR) and 8-channel digital input/output (AES/EBU, D-SUB 25PIN) for 1-8 track recording; simultaneous 8-track recording of 6 mono tracks + stereo bus tracks or 8-track polyphonic recording when using digital inputs The D-SUB is a digital input.
In addition, a stereo bus output (XLR 5-pin) is provided, which together with the 1-6 channel outputs (XLR) provides a total of 8 channels of analog output.
The UDF1.5 disc format and BWF (interleaved format) file format enable efficient transfer of recorded audio files to various DAWs. 24bit: 44.1/48kHz/88.2/96kHz (max. 8 tracks), 176.4/192 The recording time per partition (4.7GB) of DVD-RAM or HDD is approximately 85 minutes at 24bit/48kHz/6 tracks, and approximately 64 minutes at 8 tracks.
The mixer section has a conventional analog interface, but has been digitized for improved sound quality and functionality, as well as reduced power consumption. The gain is controlled by the latest volume control IC. A fader (SEND LEVEL) that can be used as a dedicated ST BUS SEND volume by setting the pre-fader.
The unit also features a gain link function, a high-pass filter, and a digital control limiter (operated in the analog stage), making it suitable for a variety of recording environments.
The monitor (headphone) output allows the user to select any channel for output. Up to four sets of settings can be stored in the main unit. In addition, a small monitor speaker (2W output) is built into the main unit.
Currently, the maximum number of files that can be recorded in a single partition of DVD-RAM and HDD is 250 files.
*The limiter cannot be used when Fs:176.4kHz or 192kHz is set.
INTELLIGENT BATTERY MANAGEMENT
Endura batteries (V-mount type) from IDEX, Inc. can be used. The main unit is equipped with two V-mount plates (BATT.1 and BATT.2) as standard, and when using PowerLink-compatible batteries, up to four can be connected.
It is possible to select and set whether priority is given to BATT.1, BATT.2, or external DC input. If the voltage drops below the set voltage value, a warning message is displayed and the unit automatically switches to the next power supply. The current power supply and its voltage value can be displayed and checked on the screen at the touch of a button on the panel.
When a BMS (Battery Management System)-compliant battery is used, detailed data such as remaining battery capacity, voltage value, and current consumption are displayed.
*The above operating time is not guaranteed, as it varies depending on the operating environment, battery drain, and other factors.
*The battery is not included with the PD606.
Although non-BMS-compatible batteries can be used with the PD606/204, BMS-compatible batteries are recommended.

Dedicated AC adapter (AD-15C) included as standard
Transfer audio data from internal HDD and DVD to PC at high speed via USB 2.0
USB2.0 for high-speed data transfer to PC
Equipped with a USB 2.0 port for data transfer to a PC. Internal HDD and DVD can be mounted directly to PC for audio data transfer.
Future version upgrades will also support data copying to USB memory devices via the USB host function.
A PC USB keyboard can also be connected for convenient editing, such as changing file names.
USB connection compatible OS
Windows: 2000, XP SP2, Vista
Macintosh: Mac0S9.22 or later, OS X10.4 or later
Only DVD-RAM is supported for writing from the PC to the PD606 drive.
*The PD606’s internal HDD is recognized as a DVD disc on the PC.
Please note!
Depending on the OS version, the PD606 may freeze when dismounting the USB mount. In this case, you need to disconnect the battery and AC adapter of the PD606 and turn off the power forcibly.
TIME CODE & VIDEO, Tri-Level and WORD sync
Built-in timecode generator with jam-sync function with TC accuracy of ±1ppm (0.0001%) enables recording and playback of SMPTE/EBU format timecode.
The timecode generator has four selectable modes: 24H RUN (synchronized to the internal clock), REC RUN, FREE RUN, and EXT RUN, and supports seven frame rates (23.97, 24, 25, 29.97ND, 29.97DF, 30ND, 30DF).
0.1% pull-up/pulldown setting of FS required for telecine is available.
Tri-Level Sync (tri-level sync) is also supported for HD recording as well as alignment to VIDEO, WORD, and DIGITAL.
PROFESSIONAL OPERATION.
RUGGED RELIABILITY
During recording, the file-closing process is automatically performed in the background every minute. In the event of power failure or other unforeseen problems, file loss can be prevented and minimized.
A Pre Record function is provided for up to 10 seconds to prevent recording omissions at the start of recording. Furthermore, by pressing the Rec key again during Post Recording (post-recording operation for the memory buffer), Post Recording can be canceled and recording can be resumed with the same file.
Up to 99 CUE point memories can be registered.
Avid™ compatible EDL files (ALE) can be created/edited.
Equipped with a 9-pin REMOTE terminal, allowing remote control via ES-BUS by connecting two PD606⁄PD204 units.
The PD606 and PD204 can be connected for simultaneous 2-TRK backup and stereo mix recording, or up to 16-TRK simultaneous recording with two PD606 units connected, and synchronization with the DV824, all with a single operation.
Equipped with a backlit dot matrix LCD display showing a variety of information. A quick setup function allows immediate editing of key functions on the top screen without having to go deeper into the hierarchy. The level meter is equipped with a 16-point LED meter for excellent visibility.
A parallel remote terminal (mini-DIN 8PIN) is provided for external control of PLAY⁄STOP and other operations.
Slate tone generator (1 kHz⁄ reference level) and slate microphone. Slate tone can also be held.
Foldable tilting stand for easy operation and visibility when placed on a table or other surface.
