The ErP Directive, a European environmental design directive called the EcoDesign Directive, has been complied with. When no-signal input*1 continues for about 15 minutes, the unit automatically switches to standby mode, the power indicator changes from blue to red, and power consumption is reduced to about 0.5W. When an input signal is received again in the standby mode, the power turns on automatically and music can be enjoyed.

1 This is not exactly a no-signal state, but a state where the volume is below a certain level. This is because signal exchange between devices always involves minute signal exchange that does not constitute a practical problem, and thus cannot lead to a complete signal-less state.
